Two Late Possible Additions

ND has offered Brian Smith and Brandon Walker. Coming in late is always difficult, but you can't win it if you are not in it.

But stealing a prospect from another school might be even easier. Frank said Notre Dame offered a scholarship to Brian Smith, a 6-foot-2 linebacker from Kansas who committed to Iowa in December. Smith's father, Chris, played at Notre Dame.

"He's always wanted to go to Notre Dame, and whether that happens or not, we'll still find out," Frank said. "I think that they've got a shot to get him."

Frank said the Irish are also hoping to take Ohio kicker Brandon Walker away from Louisville. Walker is expected to visit Notre Dame this weekend.

Major is a Gator

JasonPeters Yesterday to the GT Yellow Jackets and now Another player. This one going to the Florida Gators. Another Defensive player off the board and the hits keep coming against the Irish.

Corwin Brown will need to do some magical things this coming year with a young defense. Once he does, the recruits for 2008 will come. It takes time to build (rebuild) a program, and this is no different.

Well it's official, after much speculation Jason Peters has made his committment. Irish fans will see him in the fall, but it will be in a Yellow-Jacket uniform. Another DL gone and no more left.

Jason Peters is one of the top defensive ends in the nation. At 6-foot-3 and 255-pound, the standout from Baton Rouge (La.) Catholic Junior HS has garnered the attention of many of the top programs in the nation, including LSU, Nebraska, Georgia Tech and Florida. Today, after much speculation, he finally made a decision regarding his future college destination.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Peters contacted the Georgia Tech staff and committed to the Yellow Jackets. He becomes the 19th commitment for Chan Gailey's team and further solidifies 2007's class as one of the best in school history.

Trattou has reasons for departure

Not good ones in my estimation, but they are reasons.

"In a 3-4, they'd want me to play rush end or outside linebacker, and while that's tempting, that's not really where I see myself," Trattou said. "I've always been a down lineman and that's what I prefer. At the end of the day, that makes a big difference."

CB R. Johnson

Don't think he is coming. I see him at MSU with the new Coach. Great speed and breaks on the ball exceptionally well. Runs like a deer, natural instincts and a ball hawk. Can turn his hips and change direction without losing a step. A step above the competition. Jumps routes extremely well. Hard to find weaknesses in his game. Super all-around athlete. RoJo is a guy that would do really well at ND. With Gary Gray on the other side, the Irish would have corners that could actually cover somebody.

DE J. Peters

This is a guy that the Irish desperately need, but this too shall not come. Not enough interest from the big guy. Even after Charlie visited him personally. Charlie has said there will be surprises on signing day. Any one of these 4 guys would be huge surprises

WLB M. Smith

Brother of Steve Smith from USC. I feel he is the best shot ND has at a top recruit. Big, strong, fast and versatile. ND would do well to get Smith.

S M. Wright

Probably a Gator. He visited ND, but IMO it was a social visit to come see some of his HS mates. Smith or Wright are desperately needed by the Irish in the secondary.
