Irish Get Two

ND Nation has reported

UHND.COM STORY

Two more needs have been filled by a coaching staff that has been working overtime. Since the last couple of days brought nothing but dissappointment to the fans and of course the coaching staff at ND, here is some good news.

I stated earlier today that Brian Smith has been rumored to have committed to the Irish, now comes a little more good news. Brandon Walker, a kicker/punter and a Louisville commit has decided to come to the good guys.

Smith is a kid that is big, strong and fast. He can play inside or outside LB in the 3-4 defense. He has the frame to put a few pounds on him and By the time he is a junior, he may be able to play rush end, but most likely will stay at the LB position.

We obviously need a kicker and Weis went after one and we got him. As a junior, Walker connected on 43 of 45 extra points and made 9 of 12 field goal attempts, including a 50 yarder against Massillon in the playoffs. He also averaged 37.5 yards per punt. He also kicked a 43 and 45 yarders as a senior and reports that he has kicked 60+ in practice.
