Went to the Notre Dame Basketball game today and came away with a few thoughts.
- Notre Dame needs better guard play to get anywhere
- Notre Dame needs to play tougher in the paint
- The Bearcats are really a bad team
Other than that, the Irish got their second road victory. The game was never in doubt, but the Cats stayed way too close for most of the first half. The irish took a quick 20-11 lead, but they never took off with a large lead to finish UC off. UC's big man was dominant inside and their press gave the Irish some trouble. If Notre Dame wants to make noise in the tournament, they need to finish bad teams off early.
Falls took over in the second half to secure a victory. He was 5 for 8 today as he set the 3 point career mark for Notre Dame. ND had a 15 point lead and let that wither away to a 7 point lead with 6 plus minutes left. Ayers was 4-4 from 3 point range and helped the irish when needed.
The Irish were 13-20 from 3 point range and that was the main difference.
This is two down and one to go in My three key games for the Irish. Next Up, a rematch with DePaul @ the Joyce Center. They need to stay off the Bubble -- (IE)
