Heart of an Irish Lion

It could be argued that the Concord, Calif., product was ND's most dominant defensive player in 2006, particularly over the second half of the season. His 15 1/2 tackles for loss led the Irish and were second nationally among defensive tackles to only SMU's Adrian Haywood. His seven sacks more than doubled the total he amassed in his first three season combined. His 65 tackles were fourth on the team, and best among ND defensive linemen.

Four Irish fifth-year senior candidates -- safety Tom Zbikowski, tight end John Carlson, center John Sullivan and punter Geoff Price -- are listed No. 1 at their respective positions for the 2008 NFL Draft by ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr.

Spring practice for the 2007 Irish kicks off March 21 and concludes April 21 with the annual Blue-Gold Game.
