There are some great players looking at Notre Dame for next years class. The class of 2008 has a lot of athletes, but Marquan Brown is one of the tops. Not big, but fast as lightning.
Notre Dame has been sending Grays Creek High (Hope Mills, N.C.) running back Marquan Brown a lot of literature about the University and the football program. Included have been posters that have head coach Charlie Weis’s words of wisdom on them, and one that says Play Like A Champion Today. Those now hang in the team’s locker room for teammates to see and abide by.
The speedy 5-foot-9, 155-pound Brown is one of the best athletes in the 2008 recruiting class. He thought his teammates could benefit from the lessons Notre Dame has sent in the mail.
“One they sent me said something about how eyes are upon you no matter what you do, make sure you set a good example because someone is always watching you,” Marquan Brown said. He is a three-year starter and has rushed for around 4,500 yards in his career, and reported a 4.3 40-yard dash time at Nike’s Combine held at Virginia Tech last summer. “He runs a 10.38 100-meter dash, a 10.4 electronic,” Lovette said. “Unbelievable speed.”
In no particular order, Brown listed his favorites as Notre Dame, North Carolina State, Miami, Ohio State and Georgia. He and Lovette talked about trying to make it to South Bend and taking the school up on an invitation to an Irish game last season, but things didn’t work out. Brown is going to try and make it up this summer.
Matt Meyer is another junior standout. He is a tackle that is very large and can move really well. ND has not offered him yet, but he has two offers at this point.
