6 players left on board

From Scout.com. Out of six players remaining on the board for ND, there is a possibility of landing two. Charlie has 7 scholorships left. Will he use them on lower rated players? Will he give a couple of "FRIENDS" scholorships to land the bigger fish. See Illinois and Ron Zook Book on recruiting....

OFFENSE

Joe McKnight
He had a fantastic week in San Antonio for the U.S. Army All-American Bowl. McKnight is a special back that will be able to step in right away and make a difference. Notre Dame had been hanging around for a while and he had even mentioned that he would visit South Bend. At this time I really don’t see that happening. Recently McKnight announced that he would visit LSU, Ole Miss, USC, Arkansas. Rumor has it that he has already told one coaching staff that he is committed. My guess is that school isn’t Notre Dame.

Robert Hughes
Robert narrowed his choices down to Notre Dame, Illinois and Wisconsin. During his stay in San Antonio he spent most of his time hanging around the Illinois commitments, despite having several Irish commitments on his team. He has said after the Darius departure that ND is moving up, but I don't see it.

DEFENSE

Will Blackwell
No telling where he will go. Rumors say ND and LSU. Obviously he cannot attend both. He was at LSU this past weekend with no official visit set for ND. Not a good sign, but he is a smart boy and will make the best decision. ND

Jason Peters
If Weis can get Peters to the campus in the next couple of weeks, he will be Irish. Otherwise ND has a lot of room to make up. Peters has visited Georgia Tech, Florida, Nebraska and LSU, so a trip to ND is IMO necessary.

Malcolm Smith
USC is confident in landing Smith. His brother is Steve Smith from USC. He will make his decision between USC, UCLA and ND. I don't have a lot of confidence, but ND could use a player like him on D.

Major Wright
Another one that is necessary, but doesn't look good. Don't see him coming to ND.
