ND talks to new LB

Paul Stefanik is a kid that was overlooked by a lot of programs. He has good size, good speed and a great head for football.

Scout.com Insider:
“Notre Dame was in San Antonio and my film was flying around down there somehow,” Stefanik explained. “They liked what they saw and took it back to South Bend for their new defensive coordinator to go over. Coach (John) Latina said that he (Coach Corwin Brown) really liked it and told me they had overlooked me.”

Paul Stefanik grew up a big fan of Notre Dame and is very familiar with what the Irish have to offer. “Oh man, that place is unreal,” Stefanik said. “I was totally shocked when they called. The tradition is amazing there and hey, it’s Notre Dame. I mean, it’s just Notre Dame. My Pap used to run a bus of about 50 guys from this area up to South Bend every year to catch a game and was probably the biggest Notre Dame fan ever, so I grew up with it.”

The 6-foot-2, 225-pound Penn-Trafford High linebacker expects to hear back from the Irish in the next week on whether he’ll be offered a scholarship or not and is also waiting on a call Monday from Michigan State regarding a possible Spartan offer. Stefanik is being recruited as an inside linebacker by the Irish.

“They like me at inside linebacker. I could probably add other 20-pounds of muscle and get up to 245-pounds without losing speed.”

Stefanik registered 109 tackles, 20 tackles for loss, 15 sacks, two interceptions, four fumble recoveries and scored three defensive touchdowns as a senior. He competes in amateur strongman competitions and has impressive strength with a 415-pound bench, 610-pound squat and 285-pound power clean. He consistently runs the 40-yard dash in the 4.6 range and has a 36-inch vertical.

IF those strength numbers are right and this kid can run a 4.6 at inside linebacker he needs an offer right now!

you are right vinny. i think weis thought he would get more defensive guys, now that he hasn't, there are plenty of scholorships left. he looks and talks like an irish player.

In order to find his equal, an Irishman is *forced* to talk to God.
